Weddings

The following are answers to some questions that may arise for you. Please call the church office at (705) 652–3126 if you have any further questions.

HOW FIRM IS OUR DATE?
The church secretary will include your date in the schedule upon receipt of a deposit of $100.00.

If any changes are made during your preparations, contact the church secretary promptly.

WHERE DO WE GET THE LICENSE?
The license may be obtained at the Lakefield-Smith- Ennismore Municipal Office (or at the City Hall of most municipalities). You must obtain it at least three days and not more than ninety days before your wedding.

Only one person needs to apply for the license, but must take identification for both parties. It is recommended that you make prior arrangements with the municipal office to ensure that you have the proper documentation and that the clerk will be available to serve you.

Previously married persons must present an original copy of their final decree of divorce. Widowed persons must present a copy of their previous spouse’s certificate of death.

When you have the marriage license, bring it to the church office – 45 Regent Street, Lakefield – weekday mornings (705-652-3126). This must be done prior to your wedding day. Do not complete the license or seal the envelope.

WHAT ABOUT MUSIC?
Your choice of music is made in consultation with the minister and our organist. Please remember that a church wedding is a service of worship and the music should be appropriate to the occasion and the setting.

The organist will gladly help you make your selections. If you wish to have a friend or relative assist with music, please advise the minister and the organist.

MAY WE DECORATE THE CHURCH? WHAT ABOUT FLOWERS?
Flowers may be placed in the sanctuary for decoration. Stands are available in the church for flowers, without charge. Arrangements must be made ahead of time for the church to be opened for flower deliveries.

Pews may be decorated with bows or other suitable markers provided no nails or thumb tacks are used.

WHAT ABOUT PICTURES? VIDEOTAPING?
Your guests are asked not to take pictures during the wedding service. If your photographer has any questions, please advise him/her to contact the minister before the day of the wedding.

Videotaping may be done during the wedding service, provided no additional lights are used.

WHAT ABOUT CONFETTI OR RICE?
Please ask your guests not to scatter rice, confetti, etc. on the church property.

DO WE HAVE A REHEARSAL BEFORE THE WEDDING?
A rehearsal is recommended, usually on the evening before the wedding, which includes the entire wedding party.
